Gaskets are everywhere.
OK, that’s something of an exaggeration, but it would certainly be true to say that gaskets are vitally important in many sectors. And about gasket cutting, I want to say something.
My gasket customers always ask me the same question at the beginning “cutting gaskets, how should I choose a cutting machine, laser cutting or knife cutting?”
First, let me analyze the shortcomings of lasers, and you will know how to choose easily.
Disadvantages of laser cutting include:
- Material thickness restrictions,
- Harmful gases and smoke,
- High energy consumption and upfront costs.
First, if you are cutting asbestos-free, asbestos, rubber and other materials, and there are many cutting types and different cutting thicknesses, then the laser is not suitable, especially for asbestos gaskets, the cutting thickness is about less than 1 mm. The cnc gasket cutting machine uses a pneumatic cutting tool to cut a thickness of about 5 mm, so the cnc gasket cutting machine function is more powerful in this case.
Second, laser cutting also produces smoke and harmful gases from some materials during the cutting process, which is not suitable for people to work for a long time, while knife cutting machines are relatively safer and harmless.
Third, compared with the later costs, the basic consumption of cnc gasket cutter is mainly the blade, while the laser machine “Cutting nozzle, Focal lenses, cutting head..etc” Considering the budget of the machine and subsequent maintenance, the result is obvious.
To sum up, if you have many types of gaskets and want more “healthy and safe” way to cut, knife cutting machine is a better choice.
